Crowns are small but strong covers that reinforce weak teeth.
They can be made of different materials, including gold and other metals. At Lotus Clinic, our material of choice is a special dental-grade ceramic because it allows us to design beautiful tooth-coloured crowns in a single day using CEREC technology.
What is ‘CEREC’?
CEREC stands for Chair-side Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. It is a restoration system that makes it possible for dentists to design and place ceramic restorations in one appointment.
Amazing dental clinic! I arrived here for several treatments including root canal, installation of crowns and veneers. Staff is warm, accommodating and professional. Clinic looks ultra modern yet inviting. The clinic continuously invests in the most cutting edge dental technologies, including invisialign and implantpilot. This place is several notches above every other place I have ever been to. Look no more for any of your dental needs!!!
There are two main types of dental fillings: direct and indirect.
Direct restorations are shaped and cured directly inside the prepared tooth. Indirect fillings (also called inlays) are first designed and cured outside the mouth and then are fitted to the tooth like inserting a piece into a puzzle.
We provide both types of these aesthetic dental restorations here at Lotus Clinic. Direct fillings are made from a composite resin dental material that can be coloured to match your natural tooth shade. The indirect fillings are milled on site in a CEREC machine that carves solid inlays out of ceramic blocks.
To create an indirect restoration that precisely fits your tooth, we will take a digital scan of your teeth. There is no need for taking any messy dental impressions.
Depending on the size and shape of the tooth you need to restore, your Lotus Clinic dentist will recommend either a white filling or a ceramic inlay.
Here is what your treatment will look like when you choose Lotus Clinic for your dental crown.
Scan your bite
We will use the CEREC Primescan intraoral scanner to capture a digital record of the way your teeth fit together when you bite down.
Prepare your tooth
Your Lotus Clinic dentist will prepare the tooth that is to receive the crown. Preparation involves trimming away the outer layer of your tooth and drilling the rest into a conical shape.
Scan your tooth
We will then take another digital scan to capture the shape of your prepared tooth.
Design your restoration
The image is sent to a computer program that takes precise measurements and designs a dental crown that will fit perfectly. The design is sent to an on-site milling machine that carves the new crown out of a solid piece of ceramic.
Place your finished crown
You will try out your new crown right away. If the fit is perfect, your dentist will bond it in place.
Bridges are very similar to dental crowns, and the treatment process is likewise nearly identical
The biggest difference is that crowns are individual restorations, while bridges are conjoined units that include at least two crowns with a false tooth (pontic) suspended between them.
The high-quality restorative treatment we offer here at Lotus Dental Clinic is as affordable as it is beautiful. We offer flexible financing plans and multiple payment options to help you afford your new dental crown or bridge.
In the rare event that your dental crown falls off your tooth, the first thing you should do is locate your restoration so that you do not lose or swallow it. Call a dentist right away to set up an emergency dental appointment.
While you wait, clean your restoration and tooth and see if you can still fit the crown back over your tooth. If you can get it back on easily, place a dab of toothpaste or denture adhesive in your crown to help it stay on your tooth. Avoid chewing on that tooth until you can visit the dentist to have it replaced.
The lifespans of dental crowns vary depending on what they are made of what conditions they are exposed to. If you practice excellent oral hygiene, have regular dental cleanings and protect your restoration from getting damaged, it could last you for ten or even fifteen years.
Dental implants and bridges are both excellent options for replacing lost teeth. They each have unique advantages and drawbacks and neither option is perfect for everyone. To find out whether a bridge or implant is right for you, visit a dentist.
You can continue eating your normal diet right after getting a same-day crown. We do advise you to avoid items that are extremely hot or cold and anything that is chewy, sticky or hard for a day or two after your treatment.
No, your ceramic restoration will look so life-like that no one would notice that it is not a natural part of your smile. In fact, tooth-coloured dental crowns are often included in smile makeover treatment plans to make misshapen or discoloured teeth look naturally beautiful.
I found the staff at the Lotus Clinic very friendly and helpful. Modern and clean dental surgery. Felt very relaxed throughout my treatment so far. I have complete faith in Dr Frankl and his team. Highly recommend Lotus Clinic.
