Dental check-ups—how often?

Many people only think about booking a dental checkup when they are in some kind of dental discomfort.

At that point, however, it is already too late as pain is a sign that something needs treatment.

If you only visit the dentist when you are in pain, then you may always associate dental check-ups with discomfort and expense.

Instead, make it a practice to visit the dentist for routine check-ups before anything bad can happen. This way, you will have the chance to learn about potential issues and take action to prevent them before they cause inconvenient disruptions to your life and finances.

We recommend that you aim to have a dental check-up at least once per year, but twice per year would be ideal. Some patients need to visit the dentist even more frequently to manage problems such as gum disease or tooth decay.

After you visit Lotus Dental Clinic and get acquainted with our team, we will give you a dental check-up schedule recommendation that suits your individual needs.

Same-day dental emergencies

There may be times when you need to see a dentist unexpectedly because of a dental emergency.

In that stressful situation, our team is ready to help. We keep room in our schedules for dental emergencies so that we can see you on the very day you call.

We also have weekend hours to accommodate those whose busy schedules prevent them from visiting the dentist for check-ups during the week.

Commonly asked questions about dental check-ups

Are dental X-rays necessary?

X-rays are often necessary at the first check-up to help your dentist fully understand the condition of your dental health. There are many things your dentist cannot detect without the help of X-rays. X-rays are not necessary at every dental check-up after that, however.

How often should I see the dentist?

Try to set a goal of having a check-up at least twice per year. Once you are established here, your Lotus Clinic dentist will let you know if you should plan to have a check-up more frequently or less often.

I’m scared to visit the dentist. What should I do?

You have come to the right place by visiting Lotus Dental Clinic’s website. We welcome nervous patients, and we have everything you need to feel calm and comfortable in the dental chair.

How long will my dental check-up take?

Unless you have any major concerns to discuss, your initial appointment should take no longer than an hour.

Will I get my teeth cleaned during my check-up?

You may have your teeth cleaned if you request it at the time you set up your first appointment. It is common for a dentist or dental hygienist to clean your teeth on the first visit, but this may not happen unless you request it. If you do not have a cleaning at your check-up, you can schedule the cleaning for another appointment.

I can certainly recommend Lotus dental clinic, I am a genuine patient and I give them 4.9 stars out of 5.

I required extensive work on EVERY TOOTH, X-rays, gum treatment, bone grafting, sedation, extractions, implants the lot.

The treatment options AND costs were explained fully in advance. We spent several thousand pounds on the treatment plan and they did the work over a NINE month period and the outcome is FIRST CLASS.

The clinic is clean and the team are highly skilled. They each have specialised skills and they combine them BRILLIANTLY to provide an all round excellent service.

I was worried about having the work done but they took that into consideration and guided me through.

Sometimes the car park was full but there is ample parking available outside and in the surrounding streets. Also it was NOT the cheapest quote I received. However dental procedures can be horrendous if they go wrong so I was more than happy to pay for EXPERTISE and it was the right decision.

For us it was a GOOD experience with absolutely EXCELLENT RESULTS.
